Lion Electric Announces U.S. Manufacturing Facility in Illinois May 12, 2021 at 8:20am ET ++ It is poised to be the largest all-electric medium and heavy-duty vehicle plant in the country. Lion Electric, a Canadian manufacturer of all-electric trucks and buses, announced that it will build a new U.S. manufacturing facility in Joliet, Illinois. This new plant is expected to have production capacity of up to 20,000 all-electric buses and trucks annually, which will make it the largest dedicated production site for zero-emission medium and heavy-duty vehicles in the country. The construction will start in the second half of 2021, while the production would be possible from the second half of 2022. The plan is to produce all kinds of Class 5 to Class 8 trucks and buses.
