âThe Heroes Next Doorâ is the latest book by Marlan and Nancy Hvinden, formerly of Garrison. On the cover is the Benson County Veterans Memorial in Maddock. The book tells the stories of World War II veterans who had ties to Benson County, including many who have additional ties to the Minot region.
