National Guard Troops in D C to Get Founding Farmers Meals

By Pam Musland JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NDFU) – National Guard troops on duty in our nation’s capital will soon be getting a different taste in the chow line. Farmers Union Enterprises (FUE) announced today it will be donating $50,000 to provide roughly 5,000 soldiers with a nutritious meal from Founding Farmers restaurants, based in the Washington, D.C., area. “Farmers are about feeding people,” said North Dakota Farmers Union President Mark Watne. “They do important work, just like our troops. This is our way of thanking the Guard for their service in protecting our capitol and democracy. We hope the taste of good made-from-scratch homestyle cooking from our farmer-owned restaurants reminds them that we appreciate their sacrifice and the time they’ve spent away from their families.”

ND Farmers Union Responds to Passage of COVID-19 Relief Package

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NDFU) – Yesterday evening’s congressional passage of $900 billion in COVID-19 relief aid includes $13 billion for American farmers and ranchers. “We pushed hard for additional support for farmers and ranchers impacted by market disruptions and we’re glad that funding was included in the bill,” said North Dakota Farmers Union President Mark Watne. “This support will put farmers on better footing heading into the 2021 crop year.” The assistance will be distributed as a supplement to Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP) payments. Approximately $11.2 billion will be in the form of direct payments and other support to producers and processors. Row crop farmers can expect to receive $20 an acre, and cattle producers will receive a top-up payment to cover gaps in CFAP 1 and CFAP 2.
