The 2020 Grant Patrol, presented by the Plano ISD Education Foundation, surprised teachers at their schools on Dec. 16.
Traveling across Plano ISD, foundation board members, Plano ISD trustees, program sponsors, district staff and parent leaders personally delivered 50 grants totaling $60,700. Socially-distanced cheers and tears of happiness were the common theme as teachers stepped outside to the front of the school where the surprise news awaited. The Grants to Educators program exists to help Plano ISD educators enhance instruction in schools and classrooms across the district.
The grant process began weeks ago as educators applied for grants for innovative programs. Grant applications were judged by a crew of volunteers who completed a scoring rubric that aimed to rate applications on important elements like expected outcomes and how the grant money will be spent. Dallas, TX – December 18, 2020 - Dallas Black Dance Theatre (DBDT) is completing its 44th season with all virtual performances. In January 2021, the company will continue to capture the dance and choreography on video in natural outdoor environments across Dallas. Additionally, the dance company has decided to make virtual performances a part of its offering, even after it goes back to performing live in venues. Through its virtual performances, Dallas Black Dance Theatre has reached new audiences across the country and worldwide, including Australia, England, and Norway.
This year has been challenging for everyone and nonprofits most certainly have had to pivot in their execution of events.
For TeamConnor Childhood Cancer Foundation, this meant reducing the number of people participating in outdoor events and getting creative for other events during the 2020 pandemic. As a result of the adjustments, as well as the generous support from donors and sponsors, TeamConnor raised more than $1.5 million this fall for crucial pediatric cancer research.
âNo one could have predicted how this pandemic would impact charities when the country was shut down in March,â said Joy Cruse, founder and board chair of TeamConnor Childhood Cancer Foundation. âWe immediately began to look at how we could reschedule events to host in a safe manner.
