PETALING JAYA: Traffic volume on the North-South Expressway saw a significant drop during this year’s Chinese New Year holidays compared to last year’s pre-Covid-19 times, says Plus Malaysia Berhad.
“Plus records a daily average of 760,000 vehicles as compared to the two million on peak days during last year’s Chinese New Year holidays.
“The low volume of traffic at all our highway network, when compared with the normal Chinese New Year festive period, arises from the banning of interstate and inter-district travel during the movement control order, ” said Plus Malaysia Berhad chief operating officer Zakaria Ahmad Zabidi.

JOHOR BARU (Bernama): A man with a criminal record for several prior criminal and drug-related offences was arrested after a 45-minute chase along the North-South Expressway near Simpang Renggam, Kluang, on Wednesday (Jan 28) night.
South Johor Baru OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Padzli Mohd Zain said the 45-year-old man, believed to be trafficking syabu and ecstasy pills, was noticed driving a white Toyota Altis in a suspicious manner near Jalan Lembing, Taman Sri Tebrau, here at 7.15pm Wednesday. A police officer ordered the suspect to stop his car, but the suspect accelerated to escape in the direction of Jalan Kasa and onto the Eastern Dispersal Link (EDL) Expressway in a dangerous manner, ” he said.
