Havre Elks Lodge awards scholarships
Press release Havre Elks Lodge #1201 recently awarded six scholarships to local graduating high school seniors. Lodge Scholarship Chair Bob Nieuwenhuyse announced that recipients of this year’s local Elks Most Valuable Student Awards were: • Kenidee Wolery and Shayla Borlaug North Star High School; • Rebecca Stroh Chinook High School; • Cameron Swarzbach Big Sandy High School; The six local MVS winners were advanced to the Montana State Elks Association competition and out of the 110 statewide applicants, the MSEA reported that Kenidee Wolery of North Star High School earned a state scholarship award. “We are proud of all our participating high school students and their accomplishments and are pleased that the Elks can award scholarships to those local deserving students who take the time and effort to apply,” Havre Elks Exalted Ruler Matt Kretchmer said.
Logan Joe Corday, born the 17th of July, 2005, began his life in Cadillac, Michigan. He started pre-school in Mesick, Michigan, before moving to Cando, North Dakota, in 2011. Logan attended school at North Star High School, a freshman in the Class of 2024. His life was unexpectedly and tragically cut short in the early morning hours of April 24th, 2021, at the age of 15. Though he experienced a physical death, he will live on forever as an enigma in the lives of those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him and the stories they pass on about him. His spirit is carried on by those whom he left behind; his parents Jason and Sue Corday, his sisters Brandi Corday and Jordan Corday, grandparents Ray and Sue Barton, and aunts and uncles Josh Corday, Jenna Corday and Richard Russell, and Mike and Jenny Barton, cousins Peighton and Parker Russell, Holden and Zoe Corday. He was preceded in death by, and now joins in the afterlife, grandparents John Corday and Teddy Piper.
