Man Drowns in Douglas County Lake
ALEXANDRIA A man drowned in a Douglas County lake over the weekend. The Sheriff s Office says they were called to Lake Ida just before 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Deputies were dispatched along with North Memorial Ambulance and Garfield First Responders to a man who was found unresponsive in the water.
The 59-year-old man was found about 30 to 40 feet from shore in about four to eight feet of water.
He was brought to shore by neighbors including a retired State Trooper who began CPR. He was not wearing a life vest. It is unclear how he ended up in the water. He was found near the dock where he had launched his boat from.

Victim identified in apparent drowning on Lake Ida north of Alexandria
The victim was found approximately 30 to 40 feet from shore and in 4 to 8 feet of water on Saturday, May 1, according to the Douglas County Sheriff s Office.

The Douglas County Sheriff s Office has released the name of a man who is believed to have drowned on Lake Ida north of Alexandria Saturday afternoon, May 1.
The victim was Danny Jay Haak, 59, of Alexandria.
At 4:49 p.m., Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a frantic woman ringing the neighbor’s doorbell. The neighbor called to report the woman s suspicious behavior he had viewed through his doorbell’s camera.
Three girls rescued after kayaks get caught in wind on Leech Lake
The incident occurred Saturday evening.

Three girls were rescued after their kayaks got caught in the wind on Leech Lake Saturday.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident at around 5 p.m. The three were kayaking on Leech Lake west of Minnesota Island when their kayaks got caught in the wind and started to take on water.
One of the girls ended up in the water for several minutes. The other two were unable to paddle because their kayaks were partially submerged.
All three were wearing life jackets and were taken ashore. They were treated on scene by North Memorial Ambulance before being released to an adult.
