The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested three persons suspected to be kidnappers, at various locations within the Tamale Metropolis.
They are Yussif Mohammed, 22, a herdsman, from Akwadun, near Koforidua, in the Eastern Region, Sanda Mohammed, 23, a herdsman from Kintampo, in the Bono Region, and Mahammud Umar, 23, also a herdsman, from Bunjai, in the Salaga District of the Savana Region.
The Northern Regional Police Commander, Commissioner of Police (COP) Timothy Yoosa Bonga confirmed the arrest at a press conference, in Tamale, yesterday.
He said that the three are also suspected to be a robbery syndicate, operating in the northern part of county.

The Northern Regional Unit of the Drugs Law Enforcement Unit (DLEU) under the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service (GPS) has arrested a provisions shop operator at Banvim, a suburb of Tamale, for unlawful possession of narcotic drugs and firearms.
The suspect, Hamza Ziblim, aged 30, who has been detained by the police to assist with further investigations, was arrested based on intelligence gathered by the DLEU to the effect that he was dealing in narcotic drugs, including cannabis and tramadol.

The Northern Regional Crime Officer, Superintendent of Police, Mr Bernard Baba Ananga, who briefed the Daily Graphic on the arrest, said a search conducted by personnel of the DLEU during the arrest of the suspect in his shop revealed three empty AK 47 assault rifle magazines concealed in a yellow polythene bag; one silver and brown-coated pistol, make Blow F2 loaded with two live rounds of ammunition (7.65mm) concealed in a black polythene bag.

The Northern Regional Police Command has commenced investigation into the alleged assault on the headmaster of Nyohini Junior High School Block B and two others in the Tamale Metropolis last Thursday by some unidentified men.
This comes three days after various teacher unions in the metropolis boycotted academic activities and petitioned the Metro Education Directorate and the police to ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended and punished.
The Northern Regional Police Crime Officer, Superintendent Baba Ananga, in an interview with the Daily Graphic said the headteacher reported the attack on his office to the police and they had since begun a manhunt for the suspects.
