Branch Running For North Adams Mayor For Third Straight Time

3:47 North Adams, Massachusetts resident Rachel Branch is running for mayor for the third consecutive election. Branch, who hosts a public access television program called Solutions Rising, has served on the North Adams Housing Authority as well as the Northern Berkshire Vocational Regional School District Committee. Branch – whose father was once president of the city council – joins MCLA student Josh Vallieres in the field, though city council Vice President Jason LaForest intends to enter the race. Branch tells WAMC Berkshire Bureau Chief Josh Landes that public service, feminism and representing the community’s youth are at the core of her latest campaign.

2 might vie for one-year Select Board seat in Williamstown

WILLIAMSTOWN — Several possible new candidates for municipal posts have made their interest known by pulling application papers for the May elections. There are two candidates seeking a five-year term on the Williamstown Housing Authority: Steve Dew and Joan Diver. And one candidate has emerged for a three-year seat on the Northern Berkshire Vocational Regional School District Committee, which governs over the McCann Technical High School in North Adams: Laila Boucher. The filing period ends March 23. There are two open seats on the Select Board, after Select Board member Anne O’Connor announced that she will decline to run for reelection as her second three-year term comes to an end, and Jeffrey Thomas will resign one year early, leaving a vacancy for the final year of his three-year term.

Three vie for two seats on Adams Select Board; mix of other posts available

ADAMS — The race is on to fill two seats on the Select Board. There now are three candidates willing to fill them. Voters will have to choose two from among them during the May 3 election. Incumbent John Duval has filed for reelection to another three-year term. The other open three-year seat was held by the late Jim Bush. Howard Jay Rosenburg, a Kundalini Yoga teacher and life coach at Anahata Schoolhouse on Summer Street, also has filed as a candidate for the Select Board. And the owner of Haflinger Haus Restaurant on Commercial Street, Donald R. Sommer, has declared his candidacy.

Some Williamstown Town Election Ballot Spots Still Empty

  And two more offices have seen potential candidates pull nomination papers that have not been returned as of Monday morning.     Town Clerk Nicole Pedercini on Monday reported that no one has taken out papers for a five-year seat on the Williamstown Housing Authority or a three-year seat on the Northern Berkshire Vocational Regional School District Committee, the McCann Technical School committee.   The Housing Authority is responsible for providing fair and safe housing to eligible families and individuals regardless of age considerations in accordance with Massachusetts Chapter 667 Public Housing guidelines, according to the town s website.   As of Monday morning, three candidates for two seats have returned completed nomination papers: incumbent Charles Bonenti for the Milne Library Board of Trustees and two candidates running for a single three-year seat on the Select Board: Anthony Boskovich and Jeffrey Johnson.
