EMERGENCY services were called out after a quad bike rider fell 60 foot into a sinkhole. Fire crews from Barrow and Ulverston attended an incident off Stank Lane in Barrow earlier today in which an individual fell 60 foot into a sinkhole whilst riding a quad bike. Firefighters were able to bring the rider to safety using line rescue equipment. A spokesman said: Earlier today, crews from Barrow and Ulverston attended an incident where an individual had fallen 60ft into a sinkhole in a field whilst riding a quad bike. Alongside our colleagues from Mountain Rescue, we were able to bring the individual to safety using line rescue equipment.

The public inquiry into the Manchester Arena terrorist bombing was continuing to hear evidence from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service witnesses today.
Two witnesses are scheduled to give evidence.
They are crew manager Nicholas Mottram and watch manager Neil Helmrich.
The first fire engine arrived at the scene more than two hours after the explosion.
The public inquiry is currently examining evidence relating to the response of the emergency services to the atrocity.
