WILLIAMSPORT– On Tuesday, Feb. 23, representatives from UPMC, Susquehanna Regional EMS, and the PPL Foundation unveiled UPMC’s Special Response Vehicle, a new resource for emergency response in northcentral Pennsylvania.
“Today has been a long time coming for our region,” said Jim Slotterback, manager, Emergency Preparedness, UPMC in the Susquehanna Region. “Within the last decade we’ve seen a significant increase in demand for special resources like this vehicle across the state and locally. It not only addresses a vulnerability of mass transportation and care in emergency situations, but it also supports community health, education, and outreach.

Officer Eric Lemirand is the officer working with Wausau s homeless population.
Officer Eric Lemirand walked into the police station on the cityâs near east side on a Friday afternoon on the phone. Heâs speaking with someone who is working their way out of homelessness, and heâs late for his appointment with me.Â
Itâs totally understandable. A big part of his day is spent working with Wausauâs homeless population, and that often means he is constantly taking and returning calls. âI am busier doing this than I was on patrol taking calls,â Lemirand tells me as we ride in his squad car, a black SUV with Police written across the side, down Scott Street.Â
