Michael Hokanson public information officer with the district says all of their departments have announced a need for volunteers. “It is going to supplement our existing manpower. If we can get people like retired nurses that are still licensed, volunteers that can work their regular shifts, it will help to supplement existing manpower in each of our 13 sites,” said Hokanson.

On Friday afternoon, the North Central Health District said they were not currently scheduling more appointments until they receive additional shipments of the vaccine. This week, vaccinations expanded to Phase 1A+, which includes those 65 and older, caregivers, healthcare providers and first responders. The difficulty in scheduling appointments is weighing heavily on some Central Georgians.

Law enforcement agencies explained to 13WMAZ their plan to get workers vaccinated and if anyone has been vaccinated yet.   In Macon, the Bibb County Sheriff s Office says that no workers have been vaccinated as of now.  Macon-Bibb County Government is working closely with the North Central Health District and we are following their guidance and protocol for phase 1A, Spencer Hawkins, Bibb County Emergency Management Director, said.
