College District announces Excellence Award recipients – Sheridan Media

The Northern Wyoming Community College District has announced the eight 2020 Excellence Award winners at Sheridan and Gillette colleges. Each year, one classified employee, professional employee, faculty member and student at each college is selected based on nominations by their peers. All were honored during a virtual awards ceremony on Jan. 11. Recipients at Sheridan College this year are Sarah Aksamit, administrative coordinator for the vice president of student affairs; Ryan Shippy, digital strategist; Jill McGraw, business faculty member; and Keegan Jenness, a secondary education and business major. Credit Northern Wyoming Community College District The Sheridan College Agri-Park will once again be open after budget cuts caused the indoor rodeo arena to temporarily close. The college will now work with the Sheridan WYO Rodeo Board to make it available for rent to community members and manage the facility. Northern Wyoming Community College District President Walter Tribley said the board has the experience to do it.

(Photo by Pat Blair) Sheridan College and the Sheridan WYO Rodeo board have partnered to re-open the college’s AgriPark to the public. The facility north of Sheridan has been closed to the public since July 2 following budget cuts in the wake of a statewide fiscal crisis for Wyoming’s community colleges. The partnership and the re-opening of the Agri-Park were announced late Monday. Billy Craft, president and CEO of the WYO Rodeo board, said fees for using the facility will remain the same as they were during the 2019-20 academic year.

MSN Money (MSN.com) has recently ranked Northwest Iowa Community College as the 4th best community college in the nation by cost and quality. NCC officials report that the college scored a total score of 68.27 of 100 points. On its website, MSN Money states, “In its latest annual analysis of U.S. community colleges, WalletHub gives each school an overall score, with a possible total of 100 points. The report ranks schools by the scores, which take into account measurements of the cost of an education and students’ educational and career outcomes.”
