Orange man dies in head-on collision Monday Staff Report Modified: 7/6/2021 2:32:10 PM ATHOL A 59-year-old man from Orange was killed Monday night after he lost control of his car negotiating a curve near 49 South Main St. Athol, colliding head on with another vehicle in the opposite lane, according to a press release from Laurie Loisel, director of communication and outreach for the office of Northwestern District Attorney David E. Sullivan. The crash occurred shortly before 8:30 p.m. The man was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Athol firefighters had to use cutting equipment to remove the body from the wreckage. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
