With children of all ages studying from home once again, our friends at EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum decided to pull together some of the free educational resources available from Ireland s top museums.
And because they are so keen to spread the word on all the great things to see and learn online they sent it on to RTÉ to celebrate the wonderful work still going on even in these tough times.
Unsurprisingly, there’s lots of materials covering art and history. But there’s some for English, Irish, science and maths too. There s over 20 museum websites offer plenty of ways to engage students and make most of e-learning.

The Design & Crafts Council Ireland (DCCI) is collaborating with the government and Kilkenny County Council on the delivery of the national ‘Keep Well’ campaign.
DCCI has launched a new creative project to bring the skills and talents of Ireland’s craftspeople into homes and communities across the country. A series of online videos, workshops and activities, involving Ireland’s designers, makers and member organisations - Guilds, Associations, Networks and Societies (GANS) will be made available online and free to the public, www.dcci.ie/keepwell. The campaign runs from December 2020 to March 2021.
Three County Wicklow designers will share €2,500 in funding due to their success in the Future Makers Awards 2020.
The Design and Crafts Council Ireland (DCCI) has presented awards and supports totalling €25,000 to 28 students and emerging designers and craftspeople through its Future Makers programme.
Among the successful Wicklow designers is Stephanie Sloan, a printmaker, who has been awarded studio support of €1,000. The judges appreciated her bold, simple images that embody a personal interpretation of Ireland and noted that this award will assist in the purchase of a key piece of equipment to allow for professional production of these beautifully crafted artworks.
