HONG KONG, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) Two underage Hong Kong residents suspected of illegally crossing the border were turned over by the mainland authorities to the Hong Kong police on Wednesday.
Cheng Lai-ki, acting chief superintendent of the Commercial Crime Bureau of the Hong Kong Police, said at a press briefing that the two people, along with ten other suspects, were intercepted by the coast guard of Guangdong Province on Aug. 23 as they illegally crossed the border to waters within the jurisdiction of the mainland.
Already charged with offenses including arson and possession of offensive weapon in Hong Kong previously, the two were absent from their trials and a Hong Kong court has issued arrest warrants, Cheng said, adding that they will be taken to the court after quarantine.
