KUANTAN: A clerk at a private company claimed to have lost more than RM81,000 after being deceived by an offer of a business venture and winning RM700,000 in a lucky number draw.
Pahang Commercial Crime Investigation Department chief Supt Mohd Wazir Mohd Yusof said the 34-year-old woman claimed a man contacted her in October last year and he offered to help her win the lucky number draw and be his business partner in Thailand
He said the woman accepted the offer and was then asked to make payments for prayer, legal fees and business capital.

PETALING JAYA: Online shopping platform Shopee says an image purportedly listing a Covid-19 vaccine on its website is doctored and a fake.
Shopee said the matter came to its attention when an image apparently showing the sale of Pfizer s Covid-19 vaccine on Shopee was circulated via Twitter and WhatsApp. We can confirm that we have not found any similar listing on Shopee. The author of the tweet has since confirmed that the image was doctored and indeed fake, Shopee said in a statement Friday (March 5).
It added that the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme is a national health matter that should not be trivialised.

MELAKA: Lured by a money lending advertisement on Facebook, a doctor suffered losses amounting to RM72,165.74 after being duped.
Head of the Commercial Crime Investigation Department (JSJK) Melaka Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK) Supt E Sundra Rajan said the 30-year-old male victim was believed to have dealt with the suspect via phone calls and agreed to apply for a loan of RM200,000.
He said the doctor who worked at one of the hospitals in the state was then instructed to make payments for stamp duty and so on to enable him to get the loan.
