The mission is the first time SpaceX has reused a spaceship and rocket booster with crew on board. The company s goal is to develop launch systems that are fully reusable including the spaceship and both stages of the rocket. Doing so would allow for more efficient and lower-cost travel beyond Earth.

Miami, Apr 23 (EFE).- NASA and Elon Musk’s SpaceX on Friday successfully launched their second operational crewed mission to the International Space Station.
Four astronauts from the United States, France and Japan were sent into orbit from Merritt Island, Florida, as part of the so-called Crew-2 mission and will relieve four Crew-1 members who had been transported to the ISS in November.
A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket lifted off at 5.53 am local time from the Kennedy Space Center carrying one of the company’s Crew Dragon capsules that is now en route to that microgravity laboratory, where seven other astronauts already are stationed.

As President Joe Biden and other world leaders warn about the dangers of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is making history on the planet Mars as its high-tech equipment, for the first time, is turning CO2 into oxygen.
This is taking place as NASA also celebrates its third successful launch on of the SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket that is transporting four astronauts from the United States, Japan, and the European space program.

The growing list of “firsts” for Perseverance, NASA’s newest six-wheeled robot on the Martian surface, includes converting some of the Red Planet’s thin, carbon dioxide-rich atmosphere into oxygen. A toaster-size, experimental instrument aboard Perseverance called the Mars Oxygen In-Situ Resource Utilization Experiment (MOXIE) accomplished the task. The test took place April 20, the 60th Martian day, or sol, since the mission landed Feb. 18.
