WASA to remain on high alert during Eid holidays

Rawalpindi:Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Rawalpindi would remain on high alert during Eid Ul Azha holidays.
According to WASA Managing Director Raja Shoukat Mehmood, the agency had finalised a comprehensive plan to deal with any emergency situation during Eidul Azha holidays. He said the leaves of the operational staff on the special directives of Vice Chairman WASA, Haroon Kamal Hashmi, had been cancelled.
He said all the staff would be on duty during Eid holidays to facilitate the citizens and to meet with any kind of emergency. The directors and deputy directors of the departments concerned would monitor the performance of the staff, he added.

Pharma industry warns to go on indefinite strike from July 19

Rawalpindi : On the call of All Pakistan Pharma Movement, chain pharmacies, medical stores, whole-sellers, distributors and manufacturers, Thursday observed a one-day shutter-down strike throughout the country including Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) JK and Gilgit-Baltistan against advance tax on pharma trade and industry on Thursday.
The All Pakistan Pharma Movement has also given 48 hours’ notice to the government for withdrawal of advance tax otherwise they would go on an indefinite shutter-down strike from July 19. Joint Action Committee Chairman Zahid Bakhtawari declared the strike successful and congratulated the pharma sector for showing unity during the strike.
