FAMILY members of a gunman who killed his mom, stepdad and two deputies before dying in a shootout during a 13-hour standoff had previously warned police he was having a breakdown.

WATAUGA COUNTY, N.C. (WBTV) - Keyzen Buchanan, an up-and-coming emergency responder, traveled about an hour Saturday to pay respect to two fallen deputies.
Outside the Watauga County Sheriffâs Office, a memorial is growing for two deputies who had worked there.
There are flowers, candles and notes of support for Sgt. Chris Ward and Deputy Logan Fox who died after they were shot responding to a welfare check near Boone last week.
Funeral arrangements for Logan Fox and Christopher Ward, the two deputies killed in a Watauga County mass shooting that occurred Wednesday, have been announced.

BOONE, N.C. A married couple found dead along with a suspected gunman after a 13-hour standoff at a North Carolina home were members of the same family, a sheriff s office said Thursday. Two deputies also were fatally shot in the home.
The Watauga County Sheriff s Office said George Wyatt Ligon, 58, and Michelle Annette Ligon, 61, were killed Wednesday inside their home in Boone. A sheriff s statement said the suspect, Isaac Alton Barnes, 32, also was found dead at the home and had a large number of weapons.
Barnes was identified as Michelle Ligon s son and George Ligon s stepson.
Authorities said Barnes was suspected in the fatal shootings of two deputies who had been dispatched to the home Wednesday. Sgt. Chris Ward died at a hospital in Johnson City, Tennessee, after Wednesday s shooting while K-9 Officer Logan Fox died at the scene, the sheriff s office said.
RALEIGH, N.C. - A gunman who killed his mother, father-in-law, two sheriff's deputies and died at the scene of a shootout also attacked his father with a knife days before Wednesday's shooting in Boone, North Carolina, according to Watauga County Sheriff Len Hagaman.
