National Trust historic houses in Sussex to reopen
National Trust historic houses in Sussex and Surrey will start to reopen their doors to visitors from Monday (May 17) following the Government’s easing of Covid restrictions.
Friday, 14th May 2021, 9:30 am
In Sussex people will be able to visit again the houses at Standen, Nymans, Petworth, Bateman’s, Alfriston Clergy House, Monk’s House and towers of Bodiam Castle.
In Surrey the houses at Polesden Lacey, Hatchlands Park, Clandon Park and Leith Hill Place will reopen.
Staff and volunteers have been working hard behind the scenes to get properties ready to reopen safely with social distancing in place.

Art is back. During lockdown, of course, it never truly left. But the joys of a solo mooch around a gallery, or a family outing, were put on hold.
But now, from May 1 in some parts of the UK, and 17 May in England, the nation s galleries and art museums can welcome visitors again at last. Some smaller commercial galleries have already reopened, as they’re classed as “non-essential retail” and were thus able to welcome visitors (and customers) back, as other shops were, from April 12.
Culture vultures rejoice! Theatres, cinemas, pop arenas, concert halls and galleries reopen on Monday and what a feast of entertainment they ve got in store.
