St. Louis Man Charged With Attempted Murder

On Monday, February 8th, 2021, at approximately 11:35 pm, the Pella Police Department received a 911 call from a motorist in the 1800 block of Highway 163, in rural Mahaska County. This motorist reported that he had found a female subject, sitting in a car on the side of the road, and that she appeared to have been stabbed several times. Members of the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office responded to this call. Upon their arrival, 36-year-old Shauna Colleen Flynn, from St. Louis, MO was found inside the car, suffering from multiple stab wounds to the upper torso and head. Ms. Flynn was taken to the Pella Hospital by the Pella Ambulance Service and later transferred to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, in stable condition.
A St. Louis man was arrested following a late night report of a stabbing on Highway 163 east of Leighton.
Jonathan Jerome McAtee, 29, was arrested early this morning and charged with one count of attempt to commit murder, a Class B felony.
According to the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office, the Pella Police Department received a 911 call from a motorist in the 1800 block of Highway 163 in Mahaska County at 11:35 p.m. Monday night, with the individual reporting he had found a female sitting in a car on the side of the road with apparent stab wounds. The Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office and Pella Ambulance responded, finding 36 year old Shauna Colleen Flynn of St. Louis with wounds to her upper torso and head. She was transported initially to Pella Regional Health Center before being transferred to Mercy in Des Moines in stable condition.
A Wapello County man was arrested Wednesday following a joint weapons-trafficking investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Fairfield Police Department.
According to Jefferson County Attorney Chauncey Moulding, a high-risk warrant was executed at the home of 55-year-old Gregory Warnke near Hedrick and Warnke was found to be in possession of a number of illicit offensive weapons and weapons devices. The search discovered rifles modified to be fully-automatic, short-barreled rifles, a silence/suppressor, and substantial quantities of ammunition, as well as equipment and gear used in the manufacture of firearms. The investigation also found Warnke to be in possession of methamphetamine and marijuana.
