Historically Black College and University (HBCU) Lincoln University in Missouri has establish a police academy at the university. The new Lincoln University Law Enforcement Training Academy (LULET) is the 20th police academy in the state of Missouri and the first in the nation to be held at a HBCU.
LULET came into fruition after the murder of George Floyd as a way attract more Black people into the police force. The academy will be led by Lincoln police chief Gary Hill, who is a Lincoln University alumnus
. The staff for the academy will consist of Lincoln University professor and police officers teaching part-time.

As one of the leaders in offering free community college tuition to qualified low-income students, California is looking to get more federal assistance from President Biden’s proposals to make community college free and increase the federal Pell Grant to students.

Biden s new American Families Plan plan includes a $318 billion investment in the US education system.
The $1.8 trillion plan would offer universal pre-K and two years of free community college.
It also includes a $9 billion investment to help prepare teachers to meet community demands.
President Joe Biden will unveil a $1.8 trillion plan on Wednesday, the second of his two-part infrastructure package worth about $4 trillion overall.
While the first part of the plan included funding for physical infrastructure, the second entirely focuses on care-economy measures, including a national paid leave and four more years of expanded direct payments to parents. It also includes a $318 billion investment in the country s education system.
Shreveport hosted the Bayou Classic football game on Saturday, April 17, which is the biggest football rivalry in Historically Black College or University (HBCU) history.
The football game is normally held in New Orleans each year, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, the legendary football game was held at the Independence Stadium.
The Southern University Jaguars dominated the field with a 49-7 victory over the Grambling State University Tigers and earned a full year of bragging rights. In celebration of the game, Port City Fest was created to promote an extended weekend of events, April 15-18.
Because of the Bayou Classic football game and more than 20 events jampacked in one weekend, there was an uptick in Shreveport-Bossier tourism.
