The concept of extravagant generosity received a lot of mileage over the past few weeks thanks to the incredible philanthropy of MacKenzie Scott, who has given away almost $6 billion this year to hundreds of nonprofits across the country.
Scott, ex-wife of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, became one of the wealthiest women in the world in the aftermath of the couple’s divorce agreement. She has since signed the Giving Pledge, committing to give away at least half of her fortune (recently estimated at between $50 billion and $60 billion).

After 43 Years, Dr. William Harvey of Hampton University Announces Retirement

He began as President of one of the most storied Historically Black Colleges and Universities in America in 1978. On December 15, Hampton University President Dr. William R. Harvey announced his retirement after 43 years, effective June 30, 2022.
Dr. Harvey is 79 years old. In 1986, he was the first African American owner in the business of soft drink bottling along with his wife. That historic business move solidified his standing as a businessman.
After four decades at Hampton University, Harvey is one of the longest-serving leaders in American higher-education.

Sylvester Turner joined the rapper and his also-famous toddler at the event. The actual giveaway took place at Sunnyside Park, a location near Travis Scott’s childhood home in Missouri City.
