Hermitage Hotel set for renovation | Nashville Post

Historic property’s Capitol Grille, Oak Bar set for update The Hermitage Hotel’s venerable Capitol Grille and Oak Bar are slated for updates. According to a Metro Codes Department-issued permit, the work also will include renovation of the women’s restroom, kitchen and prep kitchen. Valued at $310,000, the permit does not reference the hotel s famous art deco style men’s room. Nashville-based R.C. Mathews Contractor will handle the build-out. GHP, also locally based, is the architect. In addition, a separate permit, valued at $154,000, has been pulled related to a temporary kitchen trailer to accommodate the effort. Hermitage Hotel officials could not be reached for comment.

Jan.14.2021 The Cascade Mountains in Oregon offer four great ski resorts, all within driving distance of Portland and Bend. Mt. Bachelor, Timberline Ski Area, Mt. Hood Meadows, and Mt. Hood Ski Bowl all have their own charms. You can ski at one of the U.S. s largest resorts, enjoy near year-round skiing, or ski and stay at the historic Timberline Lodge. Graced with lots of sunshine and great snow, the four ski resorts have runs for skiersâ and snowboarders abilities. You can fly into Portland International Airport. Car rentals are available. Three of the resorts, Timberline, Mt. Hood Meadows, and Ski Bowl, are all within 70 miles of the airport. Mt. Bachelor is 22 miles from Bend. Bend is 166 miles from Portland, so I suggest you plan two or three days there if you plan to ski Mt. Bachelor. Amtrak also offers a daily run from Portland to Bend.

Fisher Island Hotel History Once a one-family island home of the Vanderbilts, and later several other millionaires, Fisher Island off South Florida, was sold for development in the 1960s. A black construction laborer, Dana Albert Dorsey, who worked as a carpenter for Florida’s East Coast Railroad recognized the need to provide housing for black workers. With rental houses as it’s foundation, this grew into the first black-owned hotel in Florida – the Dorsey Hotel in Overtown. Fisher Island is in Miami-Dade County, Florida, located on a barrier island of the same name. As of 2015, Fisher Island had the highest per capita income of any place in the United States. The CDP had only 218 households and a total population of 467.
