(ABC 6 News) - The United Way of Olmsted County and the Rochester Salvation Army are teaming up to provide tax assistance to low income households.
Now through April 15th, volunteer income tax assistance appointments are available, giving families an option to prepare their tax information.
This year, because of the pandemic, things are contact less. This year, because of the virus we ve changed our method normally we would do it face to face the whole time but now people drop off their information and we interact with them with questions over the phone and then eventually they pick up their return, says Dave Oeth, Area coordinator, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.

The United Way of the Quad Cities and AARP are making sure as many people as possible get the help they need when filing their taxes. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program is an annual initiative, but there are some changes this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
People who make less than $57,000 a year are eligible for free tax preparation assistance. In the last two years combined, more than $10,000 have been served through this program, which was cut short last year because of COVID-19 shutdowns.
