R-Type is back! It is perhaps not the best
R-Type, but it is certainly
R-Type. Really nice to be playing a brand new entry in this classic series, and one that seems to have been a serious passion project at that. However, I would be remiss in my duties if I failed to mention that this Switch version is quite rough. The framerate bounces up and down depending on what’s happening on-screen, and the load times are significant, even between deaths. Those are two things you really don’t want to see in a shoot-em-up in particular. Can you still have fun with it? Sure, if you can tolerate framerate dips and generally iffy technical performance, there’s a good shooter in here. But if you have any other option, you should take it.

Limited Run Games has suddenly announced a multitude of special physical versions for the 2019 Konami release,
Castlevania Anniversary Collection, on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. On Friday, May 14 at 10 a.m. ET, preorders will begin for
Castlevania Anniversary Collection standard, Classic, Bloodlines, and Ultimate physical editions at Limited Run, containing a wide variety of wild extras.
Obviously, the $34.99 standard version is just the game in the box, no extras. The $59.99 Classic Edition tosses in an original soundtrack CD, reversible poster, and NES-style dust sleeve in a retro-flavored box with metallic ink. The $59.99 Bloodlines Edition is largely the same except replaces the sleeve and box with a deluxe clamshell case, mimicking the style of Sega Genesis games and

Today, the original GBC Shantae game gets a long-awaited re-release on the Switch. I just posted my review of the plucky heroine s maiden adventure, and I was lucky enough to get an opportunity to bother Matt Bozon, the Shantae series director and WayForward s creative director, with some questions about that landmark game. Interabang Entertainment and Limited Run Games will be releasing Jay And Silent Bob Mall Brawl on both PlayStation and Xbox consoles. The side-scrolling 8-bit-inspired beat-em-up had been previously released on both the Nintendo Switch and Steam last year, but now the game is coming to both current and next-gen consoles along with some special physical editions for those looking to collect. The game has also been enhanced with higher-quality visuals and a remixed soundtrack for both, which will be added to previous versions of the game as a free update. Fans can pick up the Standard Edition for $30 through Limited Run, or they can go all-in and save the Collector s Edition for $60.
