STATEWIDE If you want to purchase alcohol as part of your Easter celebration, you might want to hit the liquor store before Sunday.
The Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (ABC) stores announced on Thursday that all ABC stores will be closed on Sunday, April 4 for the Easter holiday.
Instead, residents can visit the Virginia ABC stores beforehand, including on Saturday April 3 from noon to stores’ “regular closing hours.”
All Virginia ABC stores will reopen at noon on Monday, April.
“April 5 is also Mini Monday, when customers can receive a complimentary 50ml bottle of Jameson Cold Brew Whiskey & Coffee with any purchase (online or in-store) of $25 or more in spirits or wine,” according to the Virginia ABC’s news release on Thursday. “Customers can shop ahead of Easter Sunday in-store or online with curbside pickup or home delivery in select areas.”
Those who work at HQ2 have a new ABC store from which to procure their booze.
The new Virginia ABC store at 1301 S. Joyce Street is set to open next Tuesday, April 6, the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority announced today. The space previously housed a Mike Bloomberg for President campaign office.
The CEO of Virginia ABC said the store, at the Westpost (previously Pentagon Row) shopping center, is opening in response to local demand. The 4,200 square foot retail location in Pentagon City will offer more than 2,700 items, including over 400 types of bourbon.
“Store hours are noon to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. on Sunday,” noted a press release, adding that “the new Pentagon Row store will provide curbside service.”

Gov. Ralph Northam has recognized April as Alcohol Awareness Month in Virginia, emphasizing the need to increase public awareness and understanding about the dangers associated with alcohol misuse.
