VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Virginia Beach Sheriff Ken Stolle announced Tuesday the appointment of a new LGBT Liaison to the Virginia Beach Sheriffâs Office.
Deputy Heidi Evertson will take over the position immediately, replacing the officeâs first LGBT Liaison, Sgt. Guy Saucier, who retired.
The position was created in 2017 with the goal to build better relationships with the LGBTQ+ community and create an inclusive workplace.
The LGBT Liaison works closely with the Human Rights Commission Liaison, serves as a resource for sworn and civilian staff on LGBT issues, and represents the Virginia Beach Sheriffâs Office at community events.

Virginia Beach police arrest another man in connection to shootings at Oceanfront

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. Police said they made another arrest related to one of the shootings that took place at the Oceanfront on March 26.
The police department tweeted Thursday that Raswell Jahkee Steverson, 22, had been taken into custody after an investigation into the shooting at 20th Street and Atlantic Avenue.
There were two other shootings at the Oceanfront that night. In one case, a bystander, Deshayla Harris, died after a stray bullet hit her. In the other case, a police officer killed Donovon Lynch.
