RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Employees of the Virginia Supreme Court Building in Richmond had to evacuate the building Friday afternoon due to a bomb threat.
According to Virginia Capitol Police, the building on N 9th Street was evacuated shortly before 1:30 p.m. After a K9 sweep was completed, people were allowed back inside around 2:30 p.m.
An investigation into the threat is still ongoing.

RICHMOND, Va. Virginiaâs Capitol Square is closed to the public beginning Thursday as officials prepare for the potential of armed protests or âcredible threatsâ of violence against state capital cities nationwide.
The announcement comes on the first day of the 2021 legislative session in the Commonwealth.
âIn preparation for possible demonstrations around Richmond over the next week, and in light of the civil unrest in the nationâs capital on Jan. 6, the Department of General Services is implementing precautionary measures to protect the employees, visitors, buildings and grounds at historic Capitol Square,â a spokesperson for the Department of General Services said.
