Whether by stars or letter grades, D C hospitals again rank so-so at best | Patrick Malone & Associates P C | DC Injury Lawyers

To embed, copy and paste the code into your website or blog: Hospitals in the Washington, D.C., area got generally lackluster ratings for quality and safety of health care in the latest reviews by federal and independent groups. Two well-known D.C. hospitals got one star, the lowest ranking, in a federal survey, while a nonprofit rater gave another D.C. hospital a flunking grade of F. The reviewers, due to the coronavirus, suspended their 2020 ratings, so the new measurements were the first in many months and they showed, to a degree, how institutions held up during the pandemic. The rankings also underscored the urgency of local officials’ announced plans to revamp hospital care, including helping to fund two new facilities.

Virginia Hospital Safety Grades 2021: The Best And The Worst

18 hospitals received a B grade. 13 hospitals received a C grade. 2 hospitals received a D grade. Many of the leading hospitals in Northern Virginia received an A grade, including all the Inova hospitals, along with the Novant Health UVA Health System hospitals in Manassas and Haymarket. Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington and Reston Hospital Center also received A grades. Subscribe Christopher Chiantella, chief medical officer at Inova Loudoun Hospital, which received an A grade, said in a statement that feedback received in our regular safety culture surveys guides our strategies to reduce patient harm. This awareness accompanied by accountability, ongoing education and performance improvement intervention across all teams, prepared us for the challenges of the pandemic, Chiantella said.

Centra to begin allowing two visitors per patient this week

Over the last several weeks, Centra has been constantly monitoring the community spread of COVID-19 and responding as necessary to reduce the risks of transmission.  Effective Friday, March 19, all Centra Hospitals will allow two visitors per inpatient adult for non-COVID patients and patients in the Labor and Delivery and Mother/Baby Units. To further clarify, Centra will allow visitors to take turns, but will require two at a time. Professional doulas and members of the clergy are recognized members of the care team and are not included in the visitor count.  Visitors for the Emergency Room and procedural areas will remain restricted to one visitor per patient due to space constraints.
