The Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail tested all its staff members and inmates for the coronavirus last week.
The results? 78 inmates and seven staff members are positive for the virus.
“All 78 inmates who tested positive are currently asymptomatic, this is in addition to the single inmate who tested positive for COVID-19 last week,” according to the VPRJ’s Facebook post on Dec. 24.
On Dec. 22, VPRJ announced in a news release they would test all the jail’s inmates and staff for the coronavirus after an inmate and an unknown number of staff members tested positive the week before.
Around 450 tests were administered by the Virginia Army National Guard and the Virginia Department of Health.

POQUOSON, Va. Police arrested a man from Poquoson who s accused of having child pornography.
Shain Andrew Barnard, 31, was in the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail Wednesday afternoon. Officers booked him into the jail on Tuesday.
The jail s website listed 15 charges against Barnard. Those included 14 counts specific to the possession of child pornography. The other charge was Possession of Obscene Material with a Minor.
