The Pike County native recently released a book of poems called âAn Echo In The Wind,â but itâs not her first book. She authored a novel titled âThe Devilâs Backâ in 2015.
âI retired in 2003 and for several years didnât know what to do with the rest of my life. Eating and traveling were not quite enough,â she said. âA friend got me interested in attending the Appalachian Writers Workshop in Hindman. I began writing memoir, but soon discovered I didnât like revealing so much about myself. Then I turned to short stories, and before I knew it, the stories had morphed into a novel.â

(TNS) Raleigh County, W.Va., Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the City of Beckley and New River Gorge Regional Development Authority (NRGRDA) to invite remote workers to move to Beckley, Mayor Rob Rappold and Chamber CEO Michelle Rotellini announced Wednesday.
The remote recruitment effort is a piece in the redevelopment of downtown Beckley and is influencing a survey by NRGRDA, Rappold said.
