RICHMOND, Va. (WHSV/Office of Gov. Northam Press Release) â According to a press release from Governor Ralph Northamâs office, Shenandoah Valley Hemp, LLC, doing business as Pure Shenandoah, will invest nearly $3.3 million to establish an industrial hemp fiber processing and cannabidiol oil extraction facility in the Town of Elkton.
The release says the company will create 24 new jobs and will purchase 100 percent of its industrial hemp from Virginia growers. The release says this will result in nearly $5 million in payments to Virginia farmers over the next three years.

NORFOLK, Va. State leaders in Virginia are looking at a hopeful, but achievable goal over the next decade.
“A goal that by 2030, all Virginia families can access quality childcare regardless of their income, said Stephen Moret, President and CEO of the Virginia Economic Development Partnership.
Friday, state leaders virtually announced what was called a “moonshot” objective over the next ten years: getting access to affordable early childcare for every family in the commonwealth.
Roughly nine months into the COVID-19 pandemic, the coronavirusâ fervor is reaching new peaks.
Last week, Virginia recorded 4,398 new cases, marking the commonwealthâs highest daily increase yet. Nearly two weeks after the Thanksgiving holiday, hospitalizations also surpassed 2,000 in a single day for the first time.
The disconcerting public health data come amid an unacceptable unemployment backlog. Despite months of economic aid and employer/employee adjustments, almost 70,000 Virginians still were waiting for assistance as of earlier this week. With the pandemic still in full force, to reach economic recovery, Virginia must reposition its approaches here at home.
The commonwealth has been fortunate. Statewide unemployment rates consistently have stayed below the national level. But the data is clear: Outside of construction (+2.1%) and essential retail jobs like grocery stores and pharmacies (+3.3%), major employment sectors across Virginia have experienced a year of
