Provinces directed to ensure supply of regulated wheat flour National February 16, 2021 ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh Monday urged the provincial governments and departments concerned to take all necessary administrative measures to ensure uninterrupted supply of regulated wheat flour throughout the country. The minister was chairing the weekly meeting of National Price Monitoring Committee (NPMC), according to press statement issued by the Finance Ministry. Business February 2, 2021 ISLAMABAD: Arrangements are underway to import sugar to ensure its smooth supply in the domestic market, secretary ministry of industries and production said on Monday. The secretary told a meeting of the National Price Monitoring Committee that there would be increased production of sugar during the current crushing season as per latest estimates. Minister for Finance and Revenue Hafeez Shaikh chaired the weekly meeting of the NPMC. Minister for Food Security Fakhar Imam, PM aide on revenue Waqar Masood, Federal Board of Revenue chairman, members of Competition Commission of Pakistan and Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, managing directors of Utility Stores Corporation and Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation attended the meeting.

FFC plans to set up new DAP plant Seeks government commitment of natural gas at concessionary rates ISLAMABAD: Fauji Fertilizer Company (FFC) is planning to set up new DAP plant on concessionary rates in a bid to boost local production to meet shortfall. FFC is a sister company of Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim Limited that is producing DAP locally. In this regard, the Fauji group approached the Petroleum Division seeking government commitment of 30mmcfd natural gas at a concessionary rate of $0.77 per mmbtu for the first 10 years as it planned to set up a new DAP production plan for a total of 20 years under the Fertilizer Policy 2001.

Govt allows wheat, sugar import to check prices ECC sets up a committee to approve second bailout package of $36 million for Roosevelt Hotel ISLAMABAD: Five weeks after congratulatory messages by Prime Minister Imran Khan about reduction in sugar prices, the government on Wednesday allowed import of additional 800,000 metric tons of sugar and 300,000 metric ton of wheat to arrest their soaring prices. The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet took the decisions while also setting up a committee to approve the second bailout package of $36 million for the Roosevelt Hotel in the last four months. According to a handout issued by the Ministry of Finance, it also decided to relax foreign investment policy, allowing people to make acquisitions and set up subsidiaries and holding companies abroad.
