Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Shaukat Tarin, chaired the meeting of the National Price Monitoring Committee (NPMC) at the Finance Division today.
The NPMC reviewed the price trend of essential commodities, especially wheat flour, sugar, edible oil/ghee, pulses, and chicken, during the last week. While briefing the NPMC about weekly SPI, the Finance Secretary apprised that prices of 07 basic commodities registered a decline, whereas 26 items remained stable during the week under review.
Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Syed Fakhar Imam, updated the NPMC about the wheat procurement drive of the Provinces and PASSCO to ensure a steady supply of wheat at fair prices during the current year.
Kinnow exports reach historic high
Pakistan ships 460,000 tons of citrus fruit abroad in 2020-21, 30% higher than last year

Pakistan has achieved another milestone by exporting a historically high quantity of kinnow in the 2020-21 season, fuelled by an increase in demand due to Covid-19.
The country achieved a new record by exporting 460,000 tons of kinnow during the export season 2020-21, which was 30% higher compared to previous year’s export volume of 353,000 tons.

The Express Tribune, Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood said that Pakistan had achieved record kinnow exports in 2020-21, which spoke volumes about the quality of the fruit.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood said Amazon will play a pivotal role in developing Pakistan e-commerce industry.
After several meetings and reaching their specifications, Amazon has opened gates for Pakistan, the adviser said while adding that the opening of Amazon would expand our manufacturers’ horizon.
Abdul Razak Dawood said Amazon would help increase our exports and would ease of payments against the buying of products. One buyer sitting in New Zealand could easily buy Pakistani products, he said.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan Tuesday said maximum relief would be given to people in the upcoming budget 2021-22. He said special emphasis would be made on development projects keeping in view the public needs.
The premier said this while chairing the federal cabinet meeting which approved two important ordinances as part of the electoral reforms process to ensure transparency in elections and grant right of vote to the overseas Pakistanis by introduction of modern technology.
A private news channel reported that the meeting also discussed proposals for the upcoming budget. Briefing the media about the decisions taken in the cabinet meeting, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry said one ordinance would enable the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to use electronic voting machines (EVMs) in elections and the other would empower it to take steps to give voting right to overseas Pakistanis.
ECC Approves First Installment to 35 IPPs
The Economic Coordination Committee of the cabinet on Wednesday approved payment of the first installment to 35 IPPs out of a total 47, whereas payment to the remaining 12 IPPs (under Power Policy 2002) may be withheld owing to the NAB investigation.

Power Division presented a summary before the ECC regarding the release of the first installment of payment to IPPs. Secretary Power Division briefed the Committee about the recommendations of the sub-committee constituted during ECC last week. The ECC approved payment of the first installment to 35 IPPs out of total 47 whereas payment to the remaining 12 IPPs (under Power Policy 2002) may be withheld owing to the NAB investigation.
