A Commerce Department appointee who has helped lead President Donald Trump’s crackdown against social media companies has been tapped for a top role at the Justice Department in the waning weeks of his presidency, three people familiar with the matter told POLITICO. Adam Candeub, the acting head of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration, has been named deputy associate attorney general starting Monday, according to two officials and a third person familiar with the matter, who requested anonymity to discuss the plans.
