Publish findings of investigative committee on Yaw Kwakwa – Union charges Ghana Airport Company Board

+ The Ghana Airport Company Limited’s Divisional Union of the Public Services Workers’ Union of the Trade Union Congress has challenged the Company’s Board to make public, findings of the Investigative Committee. This follows the Union’s decision to withdraw their services from 6 am on Friday, February 26, until further notice. According to the group, the Company’s Board is attempting to shelve the report of an investigative committee that allegedly confirms that the Managing Director, Yaw Kwakwa is guilty of mismanagement and abuse of office. Speaking on Joy FM’s NewsNite Thursday, the Divisional Chairman of the Union, Abdul-Issaka Bamba argued that if the Board is not covering for Mr Kwakwa then the Union that made the assertions must be informed about the findings.

This is coming as oil price, yesterday, soared to $67 per barrel, a development that could further increase retail price of petrol, although it is positive for the Excess Crude Account and the 2021 budget. Stakeholders said liberalisation of the downstream sector, including removal of subsidy, were necessary steps in reviving the downstream sector.  They also maintained that taking clear decisions on how to implement minimum wage across the 36 states, providing other palliatives to cushion impacts, as well as proper use of subsidy should be critical for the governors.
