Punjab Minister for Industries and Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal on Wednesday stressed the need for ensuring optimum use of modern technology to explore underground minerals.
He was chairing a meeting to review the performance of Mines and Minerals Department, exploration of underground minerals and leasing of sites here at Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) office. Secretary Mines and Minerals Department, head of monitoring unit, Mines DG, experts and other officers concerned attended the meeting.
The minister said billions of rupees would be invested for setting up of new cement plants in Punjab and an effective policy would also have to be evolved for leasing out of minerals’ sites.
CM Usman Buzdar for strict monitoring of uplift schemes

LAHORE:Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar directed strict monitoring of ongoing development schemes to ensure their timely completion in a transparent manner.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the CM said that the parliamentarians, secretaries, commissioners and DCs should regularly monitor development schemes in their areas and make it clear that no compromise will be made on the quality of development projects.
The officials concerned should check the standard of construction work and a formal certificate be taken about it. The timely completion of the development schemes is imperative to facilitate people, he added and emphasised that any delay will not be tolerated.

LAHORE: Cutlery sector of Wazirabad is unable to meet the millions of dollar exports orders due to shortage of skilled labour and other production related issues.
This was disclosed by a delegation of Pakistan Cutlery and Stainless Utensils Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PCSUMEA) during a meeting with Minister for Industry, Commerce and Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal here at Civil Secretariat on Tuesday.
The delegation was headed by senior vice-chairman of association Mirza Amir Ullah along with Vice-Chairman M Azeem, former Chairman Hamza Shakeel Bhutto, Chairman Board of Management Small Industrial Estate Wazirabad M Khalid Mughal and other members of the sector. Deputy Secretary Commerce Yasir Rehman and concerned officers were also present in the meeting.
