Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Mian Aslam Iqbal said that Pakistan and Indonesia share deep potential, cultural, religious ties and respect for democratic values. Being the largest countries in the Islamic world, the two stand together for their progress and prosperity. He said that Indonesia-Pakistan preferential trade agreement (PTA) has been beneficial for private businesses of both countries and instrumental in focusing growth in Pakistan. He said that the level of trade and investment between the two countries has not kept pace with global trends. There is considerable untapped potential to expand trade taking advantage of the PTA.

Govt to address garment sector woes Govt to address garment sector woes APP July 10, 2021 LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Industries and Commerce Mian Aslam Iqbal on Friday discussed the problems faced by the garment sector with a delegation of the Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA) North Zone, led by its Chairman Adeeb Iqbal Sheikh. During the meeting, they discussed issues of property tax, city government tax, Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) and social security. The minister assured the delegation of resolving their genuine issues and directed the additional commerce secretary to coordinate with the departments concerned immediately to resolve the issues of the garment sector. “All dry ports of Punjab will be fully functional,” he declared.

During a meeting arranged by the Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT), Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce Mian Aslam Iqbal highlighted that the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan was to increase exports by resolving the issues of exporters on a priority basis as the government would not allow any obstacles in the process.

Liaison to be made effective for jobs abroad: Aslam

July 7, 2021 LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce Mian Aslam Iqbal has said liaison with employers and agencies of different countries would be made effective for creation of job opportunities of the skilled manpower. Chairing a meeting at Tevta Secretariat on Tuesday, he said the government was introducing the first skill policy of the province soon. He constituted a committee headed by the secretary, industries and commerce, which would finalise the skill policy in the next one week in consultation with the stakeholders. He said that under the skill policy, initially 17 centres of excellence would be set up and a provincial skill council would be constituted. A special technology zone would be set up at Tevta Secretariat. He said an innovation hub would also be established.
