Fraudster who lived champagne lifestyle jailed for six years

JAILED: Nuno Pestana A MAN who was part of a gang which fleeced thousands of pounds from elderly and vulnerable people across Worcestershire and beyond has been jailed. Nuno Pestana was jailed for six years when he appeared at Worcester Crown Court on January 19 after he was found guilty of scamming people across seven different counties. In total, Pestana and his colleagues stole more than £200,000 by pretending to be police officers investigating fraud at a local branch. Pestana, who is also known as Kevin Thomas, aged 41 years from London, played a leading role in arranging, transferring, receiving and dissipating funds through various bank accounts that had been obtained from vulnerable victims of the fraud.

Police arrest two more men in Cotheridge murder probe

Man jailed after beating his former partner in Bromsgrove

A MAN has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison after pleading guilty to assault and criminal damage offences in Bromsgrove. Charlie Clark, also known as Jacob Taylor, was arrested and charged in November following reports to police that he had violently attacked his former partner in her Bromsgrove home. The 29-year-old, from Finstall Close, Birmingham, appeared at Worcester Crown Court on January 13. The victim, a woman in her 40s, had been strangled and beaten, but she was able to escape the house. A member of the public then contacted the police. Clark was sentenced to 33 months in prison and a restraining order was also granted to protect the victim from further harm.

Drunken Worcester thug kicks police officer

A DRUNKEN Worcester thug kicked a police officer during a foul-mouthed rant after he fell over in the back of a police van when it turned a corner. Jack Payne, who was handcuffed in the van, fell off the bench on his way to Worcester Police Station. When an officer tried to see if he was okay, the defendant kicked him in the knee. The 24-year-old dad of Britannia Road, Worcester, admitted assaulting an emergency worker when he appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Friday. The nuisance, who is already subject to a criminal behaviour order, also admitted he was in breach of a suspended sentence order.
