Worcester man fails to show up in court on animal cruelty charges

WORCESTER A city man charged with animal cruelty in connection with a dog that died from his injuries is now wanted on a warrant after failing to appear for his arraignment Monday in Worcester Central District Court. Shaquille Walker, 27, of 93 Gage St., Apt. B, is charged with animal cruelty. According to court documents, no probable cause was found on both charges of keeping/promoting an animal fight; and chaining, tethering, confining or restricting a dog. The dog suffered several injuries including bite and puncture wounds to her face, neck, both forearms, and inside the right ear. Subsequently, the dog was euthanized due to the extent of his injuries, according to information provided by Michael DeFina, communications and media relations officer at the Animal Rescue League of Boston.
