New app launches to help Worcestershire patients

NEW APP: Worcestershire Royal Hospital WORCESTERSHIRE Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs county hospitals, has partnered with Ampersand Health to roll out the inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) app to support patients. My IBD Care app supports patients living with Crohn s disease and Ulcerative colitis and facilitates remote monitoring and communications between patients and their clinicians. The platform will help support approximately 2,800 IBD patients managed by the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and their clinicians - including Consultant Gastroenterologists, IBD Nurses, and Colorectal Surgeons. The chronic disease management app helps individuals to better self-manage their IBD on a day-to-day basis, bringing together a personal health record, medication and appointment reminders, daily lifestyle tracking (including mood, stress, exercise, diet, pain and sleep) and a library of easy-to-access lifestyle and wellbeing courses.

Worcestershire health bosses pay tributes to Peter Pinfield

THE county’s health bosses have added their tributes to the former chairman of Healthwatch Peter Pinfield, who died on January 29. In his role as chairman of Healthwatch Worcestershire, the county’s independent watchdog for all health and social care services, Peter played a pivotal role in ensuring that NHS organisations involved patient and public views in the design and delivery of local services. Simon Trickett, chief executive of NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire CCG said: “This is really sad news for Worcestershire. We have lost an exceptional man, with huge knowledge, experience, and enormous insight. Most of all Peter was a really lovely man who supported and championed health and care services, he was always challenging when he needed to be but was also able to empathise with a lot of the challenges that we faced.

Covid-19: 20 new deaths in Worcestershire hospitals

THERE have been 20 new coronavirus related deaths recorded today across Worcestershire hospitals. The total number of deaths at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS trust has risen to 678, with the number of deaths in the Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust staying at 50. In total, there have been 728 Covid-19 deaths in county hospitals. In England, a further 767 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 72,912. Patients were aged between 23 and 102 years old. All except 31 (aged 23 to 102 years old) had known underlying health conditions. Date of death ranges from December 29, 2020 to February 1, 2021 with the majority being on or after 27 January.
