THERE have been four new coronavirus related deaths recorded at Worcestershire s hospitals today, according to the latest data. The latest NHS England daily figures (December 23) show one new death recorded in the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. The total number of deaths at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS trust is now at 411. The number of deaths in the Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust has risen by three and its total is now at 37. In total, there have been 448 Covid-19 deaths in county hospitals. In all settings, including hospitals, hospices and at home, there have been at least 698 Covid-19 related deaths in the county.

REDDITCH residents are being urged to act now to protect everyone and the NHS over Christmas as Covid-19 cases rise. Across Worcestershire, there were 945 new cases of Covid-19 last week, which is an increase of 37 per cent on the previous week. Meanwhile, pressure on NHS services are growing and are at the same levels seen earlier in the year at the start of the pandemic this is alongside usual winter pressures. Dr Kathryn Cobain, Director of Public Health for Worcestershire said: “We are seeing numbers of cases going up sharply in areas which is really concerning. “We know it’s hard and we all want to see our friends and wider families at this time of year, especially after a long time of being apart. However, the increase we are seeing in numbers brings with it an increase in risk. We know the virus only goes where people go, so please stay safe this Christmas by staying at home in your usual household or support bubbles if you are choosing to see another house

The latest NHS England daily figures (December 22) show there have been six new deaths recorded in the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. The total number of deaths at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS trust is now at 410, with the number of deaths in the Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust remaining at 34. In total, there have been 444 Covid-19 deaths in county hospitals. In all settings, including hospitals, hospices and at home, there have been at least 694 Covid-19 related deaths in the county. In England, a further 405 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 46,983.

In total, there have been 438 Covid-19 deaths in county hospitals. A further 190 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 46,578.
