A card and book store has been handed fines totalling £18,000 after refusing to close during the Covid-19 lockdowns.
But the owners of Grace Cards and Books, in Droitwich, Worcestershire, claim sales of icing and other confectionery makes it essential .
Wychavon District Council, which has now issued five fines, said it was disappointing the business feels the need to so blatantly flout the rules .
The owners were handed a £1,000 fine in November for opening in breach of Covid regulations.
Since 5 January, they have also been given FPNs for £1,000, £2,000 and £4,000 for continuing to trade, the authority said.
THE source of a mystery noise appears to have been found, with reports it has now stopped after a councillor spoke to the culprit. Councillor Andy Roberts said since speaking to the resident in the last fortnight, the noise had now stopped - but if it returns he is encouraging people to again report it. We previously reported on the loud bass noise so loud it had rumbled houses in Warndon Villages. Residents have complained about the noise that they say has vibrated through their houses, shaking mirrors, pictures and windows and affecting their hearing. They said the noise had become particularly loud in late January, often between 6.30pm and 8pm every night.

MYSTERY surrounds a noise so loud it has rumbled houses in Worcester. Worcestershire County councillor Andy Roberts said there may be more than one loud noise causing residents in his ward, Warndon Villages, distress - with one in particular going on for more than two years. Residents have took to social media to complain about a loud bass noise that they say has vibrated through their houses, shaking mirrors, pictures and windows and affecting their hearing. They said the noise had become particularly loud in recent days, often between 6.30pm and 8pm every night, and affecting residents including in the Harley Bakewell area.
