Sunday, 21 February 2021 - 9:22 The 46th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council begins tomorrow. For the first time in history, the meeting will be held online due to the worldwide coronavirus pandemic. Based on the report released by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, six countries including the United Kingdom and Canada are due to bring a resolution against Sri Lanka. The six countries that co-sponsored the resolution on Sri Lanka stated that a new resolution to promote reconciliation, accountability and human rights in Sri Lanka will be presented to the UN Human Rights Council this year based on the report of the High Commission.

Sunday, 21 February 2021 - 19:54 Lord Naseby of Britain accuses UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet of trying to make the LTTE heroic in her report on Sri Lanka. Based on the report, the UN Human Rights Council s hosting body in Sri Lanka, including the United Kingdom, will submit a resolution to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. Lord Naseby, who is also chairman of the British Parliamentary Group on Sri Lanka, points out that the LTTE s atrocities were forgotten in the Human Rights Commissioner s report. In a letter to the office of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet, Lord Naseby added that the LTTE, a brutal terrorist organization, had assassinated moderate Tamil leaders, as well as former President R. Premadasa and Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
