With so much information being announced daily about the COVID-19 pandemic, here is a review and preview of what is going on in Southern Colorado as it pertains to the virus:
The Review
We begin with another reality check on the overall state of the pandemic in the U.S., the CDC reports that hospitalizations and deaths are rising again. CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky says this week it s the pandemic of the unvaccinated , Dr. Walensky says the seven-day average of new COVID cases is roughly 27,000, which is a jump of nearly 70 percent over the previous average.

Former NFL athlete shares his story to local foster children

COLORADO SPRINGS â Every year, former and current NFL athletes travel to Colorado Springs for Pro Football Camp.
The three day camp gives kids of all ages the opportunity to learn new skills on and off the field.
After Wednesday s camp, former NFL athlete, Anthony Trucks, spoke to more than 25 foster children.
Trucks grew up in foster care and was given away at the age of three.
It did not take long before he found football. When you are in foster care the difficult thing is you don t have a lot of self worth, said Trucks.

COLORADO SPRINGS â While the demand for CBD in food increases, Pies & Grinders wanted to find a way to incorporate it into their menu. People are excited to try it, we are the only ones in the Springs doing it, we are the only pizza shop in Colorado doing it, said Daniel Dreyfuss, owner of Pies & Grinders.
The new options only include CBD, not THC.
