The Washington Football Team has its new left tackle.
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday that the club is signing former Bears left tackle Charles Leno Jr. to a one-year contract worth $5 million, per agent Ron Slavin.
After selecting Oklahoma State tackle Teven Jenkins in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Chicago released Leno. The move was salary cap related. Cutting Leno with a post-June 1 designation saved the cap-strapped Bears $9 million this season.
Washington quickly pounced.
The 29-year-old left tackle started 93 straight games for the Bears and remains a solid blindside protector. Scooping up Leno is a coup for Ron Rivera s team at this stage in the offseason.
Cardinals give LB Jordan Hicks permission to seek trade Published: May 12, 2021 at 10:08 AM Copied!
The Arizona Cardinals landing linebacker Zaven Collins in the 2021 NFL Draft will have a domino effect on defense.
With Collins slated to play the MIKE linebacker in the middle of the Cards D, former starter Jordan Hicks has been permitted to seek a new home via trade, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday, per a source informed of the situation.
Hicks previously took a $3 million pay cut to remain in Arizona.
Rapoport added that the 28-year-old Hicks could stick in Arizona as a veteran voice behind Collins, but the Cards will allow him to gauge the market first.
Dan Morgan is headed to his original NFL home, for his biggest job yet. The Panthers announced Saturday they have hired their former star linebacker to be the assistant general manager.

The draft has brought about the departure of a veteran starter in Dallas.
The Cowboys are releasing defensive tackle Antwaun Woods, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. The team later confirmed the release.
The move follows an 11-pick draft for the Cowboys that included eight defensive additions. Dallas selected two defensive tackles in last week s draft, spending a third-round pick on UCLA product Osa Odighizuwa and a sixth-round choice on Kentucky s Quinton Bohanna. A year earlier, Dallas spent a third-round pick on Oklahoma product Neville Gallimore, who showed flashes of potential as a rookie in 2020.
