Share Firm urged to finish road construction Sun, 21 February 2021 Minister of Public Works and Transport Sun Chanthol urged the South Korean construction firm contracted to repair national roads 2 and 22 to bring in additional machinery and workers in order to complete their work during the dry seasons as planned. Chanthol told reporters during an inspection on February 19 that the construction period, from planning to completion, was supposed to be 30 months starting from October 2019 and scheduled to be finished on April 16, 2022. The construction broke ground on February 11 last year. He said 50 per cent of that allotted time period had now passed, but only 27 per cent of the planned road construction had been achieved so far.

New permanent landfill site, waste transter station built

Construction of another new waste transfer station is underway to the north of Phnom Penh while a 50ha area to the west in Kandal province’s Ang Snuol district is being planned as a new permanent landfill site as part of a strategy to address waste disposal problems in and around the capital.

Share Data sought for drafting rural development policy Mon, 15 February 2021 The Ministry of Rural Development has instructed local authorities to gather and analyse data and report statistics pertaining to the demarcation of rural areas in preparation for drafting the 2021-2030 national rural development policy. The ministry held a workshop in Stung Treng province on February 8 to examine the progress and quality of the ongoing work and reports of conditions in rural areas. Workshop participants included delegates from the ministry, heads of provincial rural development departments, deputy and district governors and commune chiefs from five provinces. They also consulted over objectives and indicators relevant to the draft policy.
