ALL trains in Sutherland and Caithness are likely to be disrupted by extreme weather over the next 24 hours, Network Rail Scotland has warned railway passengers.
Temporary 40mph speed limits are being introduced on the Kyle Line, Far North Line, Inverness-Aberdeen route and the Highland Mainline between Inverness and Perth. Indeed, ScotRail has already announced a swathe of cancellations to Inverness-Wick services throughout Monday.

RAILWAY passengers in Glasgow are being reminded of disruption throughout the festive period, as Network Rail begin works in city stations. As previously reported, £16m will be invested into improvements affecting Glasgow Queen Street and Glasgow Central station and approach, with track replacements and refurbishments at stations such as Cadder, Greenhill junction and Muirhouse junction. Christmas Day connections between Glasgow and Edinburgh at Glasgow Queen Street will be affected by the works, which will run until Saturday, January 2. Engineers will replace over 1km of track and renew or refurbish points at Cadder which will have an impact on Glasgow Queen Street services, with alternative routes available to passengers due to travel to the capital city during the festive period.
